Digging deeper into how to give effective feedback is the topic again today.  Last week was the second look at the 3 key elements of giving productive feedback.  We explored in depth how to Be Honest.  Today we’re going to look at how to Be Clear. This is the final and, I think, most important part of the discussion.  You’re going to tell them exactly what you want them to change in their behavior.

Remember, when giving feedback, it’s important to…

  • Be Specific
  • Be Honest
  • Be Clear

Today is about how to be so clear the other person knows EXACTLY what you want them to do.  It’s the perfect way to complete your thoughts — creating an effective feedback opportunity.

Encouraging Word of the Day:  Ephesians 4:25  “So let us put away the lies, and speak the truth to one another, because we are all part of one another.”

Digging deeper into how to give effective feedback is the topic today.  Last week was the first look at the 3 key elements of giving productive feedback.  We explored in depth how to Be Specific.  Today we’re going to look at how to Be Honest.  (This is not easy!)

Remember, when giving feedback, it’s important to…

  • Be Specific
  • Be Honest
  • Be Clear

Today is more about how to stay out of judgement or assumption, and instead, Be Honest.

Encouraging Word of the Day:  Ephesians 4:25  “So let us put away the lies, and speak the truth to one another, because we are all part of one another.”

Don’t you hate it when there’s something that needs to be addressed, but you just don’t know how to broach the subject?  Met too!  So today I’m giving us both some reminders on how to give really effective feedback.  Feedback that grows connection rather than alienates.

I’m going to focus on 3 main elements of giving effective feedback over the next 3 weeks.

When giving feedback, it’s important to…

  • Be Specific
  • Be Honest
  • Be Clear

Today is all about how to avoid judgement or assumption, and instead, be specific.

Encouraging Word of the Day:  Ephesians 4:25  “So let us put away the lies, and speak the truth to one another, because we are all part of one another.”

I can’t believe I haven’t done this one before!  It seems crazy when this is actually the most important keystone of all communication and connection skills.

Thankfully, I have an amazing sister-in-law who reminded me of this yesterday, so I get to share it with you today!

Key reminders about being yourself:

1.  It’s scary.

2.  It’s easier to wear a mask.

3.  It’s totally worth it.

Encouraging Word:  Romans 12:9a (The Message) “Love others well, and don’t hide behind a mask; love authentically.

Encouraging Word of the Week:  Ecclesiastes 5:10  “Whoever loves money will never have enough money. Whoever loves luxury will not be content with abundance. This also is pointless.”         – I know this is not very encouraging, but seriously, doesn’t it just fit perfectly with our discussion today!  It’s about relationships, not about stuff! 🙂

Question:  Are you a cluttery person?  How do you manage to keep it down?  I’d love your ideas too!  Just leave a comment below, or on FB or Twitter.
